Here’s how to make the most of your SASTA membership as a regional or remote teacher.

You’re Part of the Community, Wherever You Are

Being a science teacher in a country or regional school often means fewer local colleagues, limited access to PD and long distances to events. SASTA exists to help you feel connected and supported, no matter where you're based.

This guide will help you unlock the value of your membership through online tools, flexible access, and support that works with your schedule.

Events and PD Built for Access

SASTA has designed learning experiences to meet your needs, wherever you teach.

  • Free Members Webinar Series - Live and recorded webinars you can join from anywhere. Stay current, build your skills and feel part of the conversation without needing to travel.
  • Annual Conference (April) and Early Career Teachers Conference (October) - Held in the school holidays to help with travel and scheduling. Financial support may be available through the Helen Castle Memorial Scholarship.
  • Other Statewide and Online Events - We regularly share science education opportunities from across SA and beyond in the e-news

Member Stories

"SASTA has allowed me to access current best practice, to explore new & challenging ideas and provided a platform to share innovation: I hope this continues for future educators."
- Clay, Clare High School

SASTA welcomed me as an early career teacher and over 11 years later I still feel part of the community. SASTA has supported me to extend and explore other aspects of science teaching, help me network with other science teachers and built a feeling where I want to give back to SASTA because of what SASTA has given me.
