Curriculum-Aligned Science Materials from Geoscience Pathways

Geoscience Pathways has developed a comprehensive set of classroom resources for Year 10 Science, aligned with the Australian Curriculum. These materials support students in understanding climate change through the lens of Earth and environmental science, with a focus on local and global systems and the impact of human activity.

The resource is structured around four key topics, each targeting a distinct aspect of the climate change curriculum.

Topics Covered

1.1 – Traditional Knowledge and Carbon Cycles

  • Investigate how Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples are reducing emissions through traditional fire management
  • Model key Earth system cycles such as the carbon, nitrogen, water, or phosphorus cycles

1.2 – Greenhouse Effect

  • Explain the causes and effects of the greenhouse effect
  • Explore how human activities affect global systems

1.3 – Sea Level Rise & Biodiversity

  • Investigate how climate change impacts sea levels and ecosystems
  • Understand the long-term consequences of biodiversity loss

1.4 – Permafrost, Sea Ice & Ocean Currents

  • Examine the changes in permafrost and sea ice
  • Investigate the role of deep ocean currents in climate regulation and marine ecosystems

Resource Access

All materials can be downloaded as a single resource folder (~450MB) from Google Drive. If you experience access issues, support is available by contacting the Geoscience Outreach Officer directly.
